Today's Flowers
hosted by LUIZ SANTILLI JR
We were very slow at work today so I got off early and ran out to Descanso Gardens to see what I could find which was lots. One thing is this Channel Island Poppy (Dendromecon harfordii). It is a bush that generally grows from canyon walls and is similar to the Bush Poppy (Dendromecon rigida).

It’s beautiful! You’re going to make me take a trip tomorrow.
I rarely go to Descanso on the weekends. I try to go during the week when it won’t be so crowed. I didn’t go anywhere today but I did go to the Renaissance Fair on Saturday.

Thank you…. this flower is indigenous to arid dry desert-like conditions like chaparral. It is even prettier in real life.

Thanks Lisa that stigma is pretty common with certain kinds of poppy’s. The color I did not help it at all it full sunlight and a very vibrant flower!

Thank you.
I got luck with the background this little bud was in a great position on the bush for my choice in DOF.

Thanks, I think that center is what compels me to photograph this flower and its sister the bush poppy so much.
