Both shots are beautiful.
No need to make a decision which one I like better
Lovely work!

Thanks Nicole, this is a great challenge you’ve started!

Very cool!
I don’t know which I like better. The black and white is quite dramatic; but I love the glow in the original.

Carletta, I think I like the B&W myself but it is debatable!

Rosidah if I was just taller you would see the real beauty I saw in setting up that shot. It was crowed and I could not stand on anything but the depth of field was much different than what I captured. Glad you like it tho… I think Quilly is right the B&W is better

Nice — I like both shots, but the details are more noticeable in the B&W.
I noticed my my camera menu (we have the same camera) that it says B&W, so I clicked it — but all it wanted to do was convert the photos I had already taken.
Is there anyway I can see my photos in b&W as I compose?

Quilly I think because the camera save to file all the colors as it records it is only going to show color on the viewer but don’t quote my I don’t shoot through my viewer screen. I convert when I get it on to the puter because I do a lot of tweaking it think the best thing is to take Johns tutorial and for camera viewing check the Nikon sites Like I think Nikonian.org take the link, it si great place to get info.

This is wonderful. I saw this at Nicole’s and I need to go back as I had a couple of questions. Love it. I’m going to ask can a camera take black and white photos or do I have to do something with a program like Photo Shop, which I don’t have LOL. I have a Canon Power Shot G10. xoxoxox

Thom if you need help let me know I would try using the grey scale in Images/mode up at your command bar. Then you can add some contrast and see what you get. John at the Aware Writer is going to publish a tutorial on his blog that might help too!
